Shopaholic finds this week...

The past couple weeks I've had some pretty good luck at Marshall's. So much so, I need to stay out of there for a bit!  I love going though, it's like a treasure hunt. Kate Spade next to junk. Sometimes I walk out empty handed and sometimes I make myself put something back. This last time I put the clothes back and bought the home stuff (except for the running shirt). I think this warm weather is putting me in the mood for home decorating. After putting up the holiday stuff it feels a little empty in spots and needed some more color. 

 

Here are a few of my finds...

I hung this in our bedroom. It's on a wall that is visible as you walk down the hall. Love being able to see it as I walk by to the garage/laundry room 1000 times a day.

I had to have this. It is probably about 11x14 and at least a 2" canvas. I had trouble deciding where to hang it. Ended up hanging on the backsplash above the stove. I used 3m tabs velcro tabs so if I'm doing some serious cooking I can take it down. But I love the splash of color it adds to that spot.

Our kitchen trashcan has been needing replaced for at least a year. Someone tried to force the lid down and cracked it. I've been waiting to find the perfect replacement. Sure, I've seen them at Wal-Mart and Target, but I wanted soemthing fun. I've seen a few at Marshall's, but usually they are dented...until I found this...

Shiney and red. My eyes went straight to it. And then it was only 9.99.  Sold! I put this on top of our fridge. Nothing in it now, but it adds a fun pop of color to an otherwise blank spot.

I recently noticed in a photo how blank our fireplace looked. It's a hard place to put something because the rocks are pretty uneven. I think I've got something started though. It's not done. I'd like to find another birdcage, smaller, and a different shape/color. The owl is called Mrs. Owl. Wish the Mr. was at Marshall's too! I saw her last week and didn't get her. And thought about her and thought about her. Thank goodness she was still there when I went back! I need to find something to fill the cage, too. Ideas?

This pitcher I saw at Marshall's a couple weeks ago and passed up. It was another one that I thought about when I got home and wished I'd gotten. When I went back it was gone. :( But mom checked her Marshall's and it was there and on sale for $5! It's going to look so cute on our kitchen table with fresh flowers!

I have a few other finds that I don't have pics of yet. I'll save them for another post. 

 

My next project is going to be the media/play room. It's been bothering me since we moved in. If I could just get Chad to move the 8ft amoire for me....

Did you know...

Maybe I've just been living under a rock. But in case I'm not the only one under there...

Did you know that you can get a Target DEBIT card instead of a credit card and still save the 5% on every purchase?  I had no desire for another credit card to have to remember to pay so I always say no to their offers.  But my brother informed me that you can choose debit.  So I did it the other day while checking out.  You just have to have one of your checks for them to scan into the register to set up the account. I should be getting the card this week. Now I just have to remember to use it! The charge is taken straight out of your checking account, just like if you used your regular debit card. But you get an automatic 5% discount, cool!

Grown Up.

For some reason I felt like such a grown up this weekend.  Chad and I ran away at the last minute for a couple nights in Dallas and to watch Arkansas play in the Cotton Bowl.  Since it was so last minute we didn't make plans with anyone else and just enjoyed a weekend to ourselves.

 

First of all, thank you to the grandmas.  They stepped in at the last minute and watched the kiddos for us so we could run away.  

 

We got into Dallas late Thursday night with plans on having a late dinner when we got there.  One problem, not much is open at 10:00 on Thursday night.  We ended up at the hotel restaurant/bar which was actually pretty good.  The entertainment even better.  Really drunk people wearing purple and people hooking up.  Got a laugh out of the conversation between and man and woman obviously just meeting in the bar.  He said he was 26 and she 28.  And they were both certainly NOT.  I guess they were both drunk enough they didn't care. We didn't stick around long enough to see how the night ended, but that was also quite obvious.

 

This made watching them even more entertaining....

 

On Friday, after sleeping until 9!!, I ran, then we got ready and went to our favorite restaurant, Uncle Julio's.  Best swirl margaritas ever.  Then we did a little shopping, but honestly I was quite shopped out.  Especially mall shopping.  I want cute boutique shopping.  We weren't able to find any so we decided to go over to the game early.  If you know the Tidwells, you know we have to be about 2 hours early for any sporting event.  (and we Sanders need to be 2 hours early for flights) I think their favorite part is watching the warm-ups.  Of course the suite we were in had food and drinks...might as well start early!

Forgot to mention that we were on the K-State side.  They were quite vocal with the few Razorback fans on their side.  We got a good laugh out of irate women! Their husbands were trying to rein them in.  So funny.

I'm sad I didn't get a better picture of the dress/shirt I had on.  Love it.  Found it in Breckenridge last week.  My SIL Brooke & I both bought it.  I wish it came in more colors!  Best part, it was only like $45!  Love finds like that.
