I am fairly new to the cookie world. But I have figured out a few things that work for me, so I thought they might help someone else who is just starting out. So, as I have time I'll be sharing my tips here on my blog.
When I first started making cookies for people I wrote everything down in a spiral notebook. Once the orders started coming in I quickly realized that I needed a new system. I needed a place to write down all the details of an order from beginning to end in an organized fashion. I searched a bit online for an order form, looked at several, and then decided to make one using ideas I'd seen and adding a few of my own. You are welcome to take this and change it for your needs! I've uploaded a JPEG, just so you could see the image here. Here is the PDF link to download it.... Download Cookiesincolororderform--nologo....I took my logo off for you.
I keep all my filled out orders in a 3-ring binder sorted in order of pick up date. That way I can easily flip through and see what I have coming up. And as customers send more information or order details I can easily jot it down on their form. I also make note of their orders in my calendar...both in the week view and monthly view. I just write the theme, name, and quantity. All other info is written on this form.
A few notes about the form:
-About a week before the order due date I email a confirmation email to my customer (more on that later). Once I receive confirmation I check it off.
-Contact Source: since orders are coming from several different means I write down where on this form. That way when I'm going over everything before sending their confirmation email I know where to look to review their material. Saves a little time.
-I always write down the price I quoted and whether they want them bagged or not.
-The bottom portion of the form I don't usually fill out until I am ready to start on the cookies.
Hope this helps someone out there!
