I've been pretty neglectful of the blog lately, sorry. One word....summer. Mornings at practice and the gym and afternoons by the pool. This week we are actually home since it's a bit rainy outside. The kids love days that we don't really have to go anywhere, but goodness they can make messes in a flash. That's why I like spending out time at the pool.:) Not very conducive to scrapping or blogging though...or cleaning house & laundry for that matter!
I'll have a new 213 in 2013 layout and video going up next Monday (waiting on some paint to dry on it now) but I realized I didn't ever share my layout from last month.
My PROMPTS for this layout were:
1. Super Size a Cut File 2. 2 in 1 Layout 3. Combine Diagonals 4. Cut a Border from Patterned Paper
It's hard to tell from the pictures, but this layout opens up to reveal another 'page' of photos. Watch the video for the full effect.
Here's a new layout for BasicGrey using the new Carte Postale Collection. It is a travel themed line but I stretched the meaning a little and used it for my Grayson's Pre-K graduation pictures. It's more of a 'the world is at your fingertips' take on travel.:)
I loved the yellow globes on the Ocean Drive paper, but thought it would be too much yellow for my photo. So I circle punched out several of the globes and turned them into an embellishment for my page.
I applied the same idea to the Wall Street paper. I cut several of the tags from the paper and used them as an embellishment scattered around the edge of the layout.
If you live near the Houston area there is a crop for a meaningful cause coming up that you should check out. I really wanted to go this year, but it's the same weekend as Maddox's big meet in Austin. Why does it always seem like the fun stuff overlaps?
Chad planned a trip to Grand Cayman for our 16th anniversary. Funny thing is I kept thinking it was our 15th (since we were doing something fun)....but no, 16! Crazy that it's been that long already.
It was an absolutely perfect trip. I had waves of feeling a little guilty for not bringing the kids with us, especially when we did fun things like Stingray City. But then I'd be wisked back to reality when I heard other parents dealing with whiney kids. Not that ours would ever be whiney, ha!
We hadn't been on a vacation, just the two of us, since Cabo in 2008. So it was well earned. We spent our days at the beach for the most part. Didn't have dinner reservations until 8 each night so that we could spend as long as possible out enjoying it. We stayed at the Ritz, so we had a few celebrity sitings. Some basketball player I can't remember, Lisa Ling, and a man who really looked and talked like Archie Manning...but I think we finally decided that it wasn't. Our favorite meal was definitely at the Calypso Grill. And we had a wonderful trip out to Stingray City...other than the kids on the boat that wouldn't sit still and made Chad a nervous wreck (but not their parents).
I decided not to take my big camera for this trip. I didn't want to have to worry about lugging it around. I looked into getting a little waterproof one, but instead decided to get a Life Proof case for my phone. Best decision ever!
Here are some of our Instagrams from the Caymans...
