What a concept. Count your calories, exercise...and the weight comes off!
Last week I stepped on the scale (after two weekends of eating and drinking a lot) and found that I'd gained about 5 lbs over my 'regular' weight. Yuck. I know to a lot of people 5 lbs isn't much...but it made me feel blah. and mad. Heck I'm exercising quite a bit. But, I hadn't been eating good. Not terrible, but not good. I've always let myself have what I want (within reason) when eating out. But, we've been eating out way too often for me to continue with that plan.
So I downloaded a little program that I'd heard a lot about...MyFitnessPal. I immediately saw results, like after day 1. Now at night instead of going and getting a bowl of cereal, or popcorn, or ice cream I don't...because I've already logged my calories/exercise in for the day. I don't sneak 'just a few' chips off the kids' plates, because I don't want to add them to my total. I'd rather my calories be for something filling. Or for something I really want. I'm also minful of how much granola I'm putting on my yogurt...because it all counts.
I've already lost that 5 lbs. And I haven't done anything drastic like cut out all carbs or diet coke.:) So now I'm going to go for my 'skinny' weight. Just to see what it feels like again.:) Already with that 5 lbs gone I can see the results of my exercising so much clearer...which makes exercising that much more rewarding.
I admit, I thought it would be a big PITA to keep track of everything I eat. Here's the kicker, when you have to keep track of it you don't eat as much!
So, if you are already on MyFitnessPal friend me so we can encourage eachother...shannontidwell is my username.
If you aren't on MyFitnessPal yet...give it a try...I bet after a week you'll be hooked too.
The other night I started thinking (and feeling bad) that we hadn't really done anything educational this summer. So to eradicate those guilty feelings we went to Houston's Museum of Natural Science the next day. I have to admit...I really don't find it all that interesting. I mean it's cool looking at the dinosaurs, but really I don't like all the reading involved with going to the museum. If someone would walk with us and explain everything in plain English perhaps it would be more up my alley. But, Maddox enjoyed it. He doesn't have the patience to read the descriptions...or to listen to me read them...but he already knows so much about what we're looking at from all the shows he's watched. I can't believe he retains all that information. I look at it and think...ya...I studied that once...but that's all I remember. And I don't care enough to learn it again honestly...that's awful I know.
Of course it was an opportunity for some cute pics...even if they keep it super dark in there...what's with that??
It's my turn this week to share a Memory Keeping Monday layout & video with you! I love Memory Keeping Monday, as always it pushes me to look at my supplies in a new way. I always have fun scrapbooking but it's really interesting to have to think about 'why' I do something the way I do. As you know I design as I go for the most part. I put things places because that's how they look best to me...so it's always interesting to take a step back and ask myself 'why it looks best to me.' For example, the title. I knew I wanted something large to fill that space, but I didn't want too bold of letters. Why??? Because I already had enough busy on the page, I didn't want the title to compete with the circles. Makes sense.
The theme this month was 'chipboard'. I struggled for a few days thinking what chipboard I could use and how I could make it mine. Then I remembered a question I had asked here a few days ago about what would be your dream workshop. Several people mentioned one in which they used supplies from their stash. So that gave me the idea to look through my stash for some older chipboard that I could make new again. I hit the jackpot when I found a little tin full of all these chipboard circles. I was able to update them by covering them with washi tape. This would work for other bold shapes of chipboard as well.

Have a great week!
Hope you make time to create!
And yes, I'm going to say it...I can't believe it's already time for July's Gardeners' Digest! The summer is flying by! Luckily the kids don't start back to school until August 27th...so we've still got a full month left.
For those of you that haven't participated in the Gardeners' Digest...it's just a fun little blog hop that the 2Peas Design Team, the Garden Girls, participate in each month. You should have found your way here from Lisa Truesdell's Blog. If you lose your way at anytime you can start over at the 2peas Blog, or check out my list of Garden Girl Blogs.
So let's get started!!
I'm sorry, I don't think I've got any new layouts up at 2peas that I haven't already shared here. In case you missed it you can see my very favorite layout, last month's Memory Keeping Monday layout & video...Sushi. It's always hard to follow up a favorite. But I'm working on editing my video now for my newest Memory Keeping Monday layout....it goes live on Monday, so please come back to take a closer look. I'll let you peek though...
Oh my gosh, with CHA last week and a cart full of product I NEED, I am working on cleaning out some stuff. But in the meantime, I'll share what I NEED with you...because I bet you NEED it too! Click to shop!
I had this in my cart and then it sold out.:( But now it's back!
You know what inspires me?? New product! So much I can't wait to get my hands on...most of all though...the new KI! So glad that KI is still around and kicking booty!
This Washi....love it. Love how it's displayed...
Ok, it's time for us to say goodbye, and for you to say hello to....Wendy Sue Anderson!
Happy Friday! I don't know about you guys, but I'm glad it's Friday! Chad's been out of town all week and comes home today...things run so much smoother when he's here. We'll be staying around here most of the weekend...which sounds really nice.
I've been scrapping a bit this week, but have to save those so I thought I'd share an older layout today...
This layout is from almost a year ago using the KI Hot Date line. Some of it is still available here....and on sale! If you didn't already know KI was bought by Hampton Art several months ago and just released a new line with them, Flashback.:) Can't wait to play with it!
I also wanted to mention here that the KI Blog will be moving to the Hampton Art Blog...so all the posts won't be available anymore.:( Sad to think about all those layouts not around anymore. So if you have some time to browse through it and save some of your favorites do so before July 31st.
This year for our annual Phillips/Sanders/Tidwell/Milam 4th of July bash mom tasked Kyle with coming up with games for an Olympic Games. We were all a little doubtful...especially when Mom and Jan came out in there matching 'referee outfits'....from Chico's of course.
The day was a huge hit though and we had tons of fun...and so many laughs! Here are a few pictures from the Seahorse Race...
a funny...during our 'shoot the cans' game mom filled up the cans before Chad had a turn...he couldn't figure out why he couldn't knock over any!
